IBMer Spotlight: Meet Leslieanne John

Screen Shot 2018-03-15 at 11.31.34 AMWe grab a coffee with IBMers from around the world, and share our chat in this weekly spotlight series. This week you can meet Leslieanne, from IBM US.

In celebration of International Women’s Day this March,  Leslieanne shares her thoughts about women’s progress, and what it means to be a woman at IBM.

In the morning, I like my coffee…
an Almond Milk Caramel Mocha Latte.

When I get up to go to work, I look forward to…
driving impact.

I am responsible for…
recruiting and enabling the marketing workforce of the future.

My typical day…
Calls, Calls, Meetings and more Calls, occasionally I attend some recruitment and diversity events.

The coolest part of my job is…
hearing candidates’ excitement when I call them to let them know that we’re giving them an offer.

The biggest challenge I have …
is making sure that I don’t have too much caffeine.

Most memorable moment in my career…
Was when an intern of mine got her conversion offer and came to me with the biggest smile and told me that I inspired her. It warmed my heart.

Top piece of career advice…
is BE YOUR MOST AUTHENTIC SELF, if people don’t accept you… they don’t deserve you.

What does women’s progress mean for you?
As a woman, more specifically a woman of color, it means the women after me will no longer have to break a glass ceiling. We broke it for them. Now the universe is your playground.

How have you experienced progress for women in IBM?
Seeing more women in executive positions, seeing women really driving and enacting change and more women every day applying to become IBMers, its truly inspiring.
