What made you decide to work for IBM?
IBM is a large highly respected company, well known throughout the world, and it is a global company that has influenced the development of technology over the last 100 years.
What is your biggest accomplishment at IBM?
I think it is difficult to mention one specific accomplishment. Instead, my greatest accomplishment is achieved by executing my belief that we all have an obligation to constantly challenge ourselves to develop ourselves and to stay relevant. A successful execution of this belief has given me the opportunity to try diverse roles and assignments. These have positively influenced my career and provided me with great experiences.
Have you had any valuable mentors? How have they helped you in your career?
Yes, I have had several very valuable mentors in my career. They have challenged me, trusted me with complex assignments, helped me expand my network, and constantly focused on developing my career.
What advice would you give to our new IBMers?
- Don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as you need to understand your assignment, IBMers are very helpful.
- Get a mentor to help you understand the complexities of the large IBM organization, and to support you with your career planning.
- Build a network.
What makes you proud to be an IBMer?
IBM takes responsibility to make the world a better place to live. The world today is highly instrumented, interconnected, and intelligent. IBM utilizes this “technological infrastructure” in our Smarter Planet initiative, which allows us to improve systems and make the world work smarter. A clear example is the Watson machine that has significantly improved doctors’ ability to correctly and timely diagnose patients.
