Tell us a bit about your role at IBM and what it is like to work within Security at IBM.

As a Security Consultant, I work with clients to optimize their security programs. Our team travels across the country and worldwide to build next generation security operations, and we recommend solutions for a smarter way to protect client’s critical assets.

What does ‘Security’ mean to you?

To me, security means being one step ahead of attackers to safeguard our systems by protecting “crown jewels.” It means having confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Why did you choose to apply to IBM over other companies?

With abundant resources, tools, and dedicated people, I knew that IBM would help me advance my career. I wanted to be a part of a culture that encourages passionate thinkers and dedicated individuals to help clients succeed. Everyone at IBM is willing to share their expertise and knowledge with you. You cannot find the training that IBM provides anywhere else. And for those reasons, I wanted to be an IBMer.

What would you say is the most exciting thing IBM is doing for Security?

Mobile technology has become a rapidly growing industry, increasing the security risks as well. IBM is now delivering mobile solutions to protect data, manage user access, fraud, and much more. More than 70% of organizations have been hacked at least once in the past two years through insecure Web applications. IBM can help with this.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of entering the IT industry and more specifically, with an interest in Security?

From CEOs to Board Members, everyone is now thinking about security. Organized attackers are consistently attempting to breach systems. This is where you can come in and help become a part of an industry that focuses on stopping advanced threats and safeguard important assets.
