My 2017 Journey:
Having spent 7 years working across geos, my return to IBM India came at a time when transformation was at its peak, with India leading in this journey via Digital-India, Skill-India, Start-Up India and more such initiatives underway.
Looking back on 2017, I see a great year that has passed; filled with both challenges and victories and teaming with people I could count on for their dedication, innovation and commitment in delivering tremendous results.
A huge opportunity for me in IBM India this year was shifting my-unit to get re-skilled, learning new age technologies & domains in areas outside their core expertise. We designed road-maps, enhanced their capabilities and certified them through digital badges which are professionally accredited by IBM.
Also looking back on our shift into Checkpoint, the new IBM way to employee assessment, we inculcated a culture of continuous (360-degree) feedback across IBM. This phenomenon was a big change in the way we did things and helped drive a fantastic culture of honesty, feedback-transparency and togetherness as we all work in more agile ways these days.
The ability to touch upon ~000’s of young minds in GBS Client Innovation Center, inspiring them to be ambitious and believe in their ability to succeed in a fast paced ever transforming environment with confidence and hunger for continuous learning was memorable. I personally learn from everybody, be it a college graduate; looking through their eyes on what it is to be a Consultant at IBM or a Project Manager working closely with Client Partners on some of our top accounts.
Summing up some key wins from 2017:
In these 12 months, from an IBM perspective we see some momentous accomplishments – starting with the shift to our growth imperatives; particularly in Cloud migration, AI and Cognitive Solutioning and enhancing customer experience through design thinking and digital solutions.
These shifts are not easy and come with lots of learning for all who engaged with clients every day; and the finest minds that innovated, but also from our clients by listening to their future needs and co-creating the future.
From a GBS standpoint, we saw the launch of an amazing Client Experience center and an IBM Innovation center, bringing together cutting edge technology that is curated for different industry solutions, creating an open and collaborative environment for IBMers and Clients to co-create and solving the toughest problems ahead of us.
As we close the year, let’s reflect on some of these key learnings from 2017 and gear up for an even better 2018 with amazing things to come.
